The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center will host the 19th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 14th and 15th! The event will honor our local ancestors and celebrate our present accomplishments with presentations, a party on the lawn and more!
Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U. S State of Texas–the last state where slaves were told of their emancipation.
